Grande finale of Poster Competition held

Islamabad – Cavish Development Foundation held grand finale of poster competition on ending violence against women on Friday 10th December 2010 in a local hotel. Human Rights activists, Women Rights activists, media personnel, artists, educators and students attended the ceremony. Winners with Cavish team and jury members

Cavish, in partnership with Bedari, organized a Poster Competition on Ending Violence against Women among students in seven Tehsils of District Rawalpindi to bring awareness at mass level in society. This poster competition was organized as part of “16 Days of Activism Campaign”, an annual global campaign which begins from 25th November, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and concludes on 10th December, International Human Rights Day.

Tahir Khattak, Manager Special Projects of Cavish, said that poster competition was held under Cavish’s “Ending Violence against Women Project”. He added that this project has four main components, namely, movement for approval of domestic violence bill, capacity building of lawyers and police officials on human rights, mass awareness about ending violence against women and building grass root level support system for survivors of violence against women.

Poster Competition on EVAW launched as part of “16 days of activism campaign”

Islamabad - As part of 16 days activism campaign, Cavish Development Foundation and Bedari has organized a Poster Competition on Ending Violence against Women among students of District Rawalpindi. The  "16 days of activism campaign against violence against women”, is an annual global campaign which is carried out worldwide beginning from 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women and it concludes on December 10, the International Human Rights Day. The event was announced today before media at Islamabad Press Club.

Students from around 100 schools, both private and government, of District Rawalpindi and District Chakwal would be participating in this poster competition.Cavish and Bedari press conference to announce event Students of class 6th to 10th would make a pictorial representation of their imagination and ideas, to show how they view the violence against women.  The purpose of competition is also to promote artistic and creative activities among the students and to provide them platform to participate in such activities. The winner in every Tehsil would be awarded cash prize, whereas all the participants would be given gift hampers. The best poster from every tehsil would then be selected a district level grand finale. Among these seven posters, three posters would be chosen for first, second and third position during grand finale. District level winning poster would be printed by Cavish and Bedari for wider circulation across country.

Conference on Interfaith Harmony and Rights of Minorities concluded in Islamabad

Islamabad - To highlight the issue of interfaith harmony and rights of minorities on national level, Cavish Development Foundation in collaboration with Pak Interfaith Pakistan held a National Conference on Interfaith Harmony and Rights of Minorities on Thursday November 11, 2010 in Islamabad.


This conference was chaired by Ms. Aasia Nasir, Parliamentary Secretary Science and Technology, Member Parliamentary Standing committee on Minorities and Member JUI-F. Addressing the conference, Ms. Asia said, “Discrimination against minority is widespread. We need to sensitize public and bring attitudinal change in them to eliminate this menace from society. We minorities love Pakistan, we own it and we want to participate in its development. Pakistan can only progress if minorities are treated equally and are given representation in every sector.”

Seminar conducted on Role of Police Officials in Ending Violence against Women


Islamabad – A seminar for police officials on “Role of Police in Ending Violence against Women” was organized and conducted by Cavish Development Foundation in collaboration with District Police Department on Friday September 24, 2010 in Rawalpindi.

The main purpose of the seminar was to discuss the role of police in ending violence against women. Speakers of the seminar provided important information to the audience about international human rights frameworks, with particular focus on Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), Convention on Ending All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and Child Rights Convention (CRC).

Cavish launches Interfaith Harmony and Peace project

Islamabad – Cavish Development Foundation officially launched Interfaith Harmony and Peace project on Monday, April 12, 2010, at Hotel Ambassador, Islamabad. Honorable guests included Father Arshad, Fatima Jinnah Church, Masood Chohan, Chairperson District Peace Committee Khanewal, O.P.Narain, President All Pakistan Hindu Panchait, Naeem Iqbal, Chairperson Cavish’s Board of Directors and Aftab Iqbal, Member Cavish’s Board of Directors.

Giving a presentation on the project, Muhammad Tahir Khattak shared with the participants that the one year project would be implemented in Khanewal and Rajanpur Districts. He added that under the project Cavish aims to promote interfaith harmony, social existence and peace among religious minorities and Muslim majority.

Training on REFLECT Approach Concluded in Islamabad

Islamabad: Cavish Development Foundation completed an eight day training workshop on REFLECT Approach to adult learning and social change. The training was Participants of Reflect Trainingorganized under the agreement between Plan Pakistan and Cavish for capacity building of Plan Pakistan’s staff and partner organizations.

A total of 20 participants from Plan Pakistan three program areas, i.e. Chakwal, Islamabad and Vehari, participated in the training workshop. During the workshop, the participants were given detailed orientation about the basic developmental concepts such as poverty, development, gender equality and child rights. The major focus of the training remained upon equipping the participants with theoretical and practical knowledge of methods and processes of REFLECT Approach and Participatory Reflection and Action. Various participatory training methods such as group dynamics, group discussions, reading material, and field work were used for imparting the training.
